Spooky times at the Hub!
Kids certainly got crafty at the Hub during half term, with the Halloween themed afternoon organised by volunteer and handicrafts supremo Sarah Brown. Parents and grandparents were queuing outside the door for the 2pm start and they didn’t stop coming. 24 children, aged 4 – 13 years old got creative (as did the adults) and the Hub was full to the brim. Hub Manager, Liz Rawlings said ‘We are delighted to see so many new faces in the Hub who have come from far and wide to this Halloween activity’.
There was a lively atmosphere as the children set to work, immersing themselves in glue, coloured paper, and crayons as they made masks and bats out of recycled materials. With very little guidance, the crafty youngsters created amazing shapes and expressions.
Susan Godwin who had brought her two grandsons Bertie (7) and Archer (6) said ‘It has been so nice to see the boys quietly designing and creating, rather than sitting in front of a screen. We have all really enjoyed the afternoon & the boys have something to take home and show their parents’. All the children left with big smiles on their faces, under their masks, and thanked Sarah, and fellow Volunteers Jo and Pauline for all the fun of the afternoon.
