Repair Cafe Success as Teddy Bear gets new lease of life!
Our Repair Cafe returned on Saturday, April 20th 2024 with a team of volunteer repairers ready to mend over 30 different items which were brought to the Hub! These included an ice cream maker, garden tools, lamps, a kettle, an ornamental wooden yacht, two teddy bears and so much more. Liz commented on how wonderful it is to see how much craftsmanship and skill there is in the village. “We are grateful to Eric Wilner, Helen Cussen, Sandy Pollock, Denise Holmes, Daniel Aycinena, Veronica Correa and Les Colcutt. They all give their time for free and if they can’t repair things on the day, they are happy to take them away and work on them at home”.
Denise was tasked with re-stuffing a blue teddy and fixing its eyes so a little boy could have it by bedtime that night. And local resident, Kate Thomas, brough her much loved, yet threadbare teddy Rupert given to her by heer grandfather on the day she was born. He was missing a nose and paws, brought about through 60 years of Kate’s cuddles and pet playfulness. Kate said “Veronica has done an amazing job, it is so lovely to have my beloved teddy back in one piece and with a new nose!”.
